Beef is a guest on The Sound of Orlando Show
Generally, I hate being on camera and I hate interviews. But when DJ Rome hit me up to be a guest on The Sound of Orlando Show, I had to say yes. I had the pleasure of working with Rome back in the early 2000s on one of my favorite tracks, “From the One 2”, which was the closing track on Feel Fantabulous.
He’s been assembling an impressive arsenal of guests on his show, highlighting the MCs, DJs and producers that were integral to Orlando hip-hop and music culture in general. Naturally, I was honored to be included in that lineup.
New Release: The Payoff
Here’s another track that’s been sitting on the shelf for some time, 90% complete and just needing a little something. I replaced the drums with a tighter sounding kit and livened up the performance, especially in the hi hats. I gave the B section bass some pop and a little more nasty, with dueling envelope filters that become easily excited with the octave accents. Then I recorded a live conga part, reworked some of the effects and sent off to Charley Webb for mastering.
New Release: Excuse Me Madame
Throughout the late 90’s, I got deep into downtempo, acid jazz and lounge music. The tracks that always seemed to peak my interest had a slightly shuffled backbeat, simple percussive polyrhythms and wonderfully lush chord progressions. I quickly learned this was bossa nova.
New Video: Venice Beatdown
This was one of my first attempts in merging graphic, video and music production into one creative process. The goal was to make old people want to dance, and small children want to hide under their beds. Did I succeed? You be the judge.
New Video: White Lights
With many moons passing since I’ve put out any new music, I figured I would add a little visual sump’n sump’n for this one. It’s trippy. It pumps. It grooves. It’s a kaleidoscope. What more could you want?
